Potter’s Bend interview with sales representative Margaret Mund

We caught up with Sales Representative Margaret Mund at the Potter’s Bend sales office to ask her a few questions about the development.

Margaret, who has been with Fieldgate Homes now for 11 years, has had a very busy start to the new year, and with only 3 homes remaining in phase three, we don’t expect her to be at the sales centre much longer!

“At Fieldgate Homes we are known for architectural styling, we don’t build boxes, the homes have character, they are solidly built, the thing you always have to fall back on is that we have been in business since 1957.”

How long does it take to build a home?

The rule of thumb that we are given, is that from foundation-to-finish is a 17 week period, that’s once the foundation is in and provided all the finished have been selected.

How are sales going? How many units are left?

3 units are left, two in 35’ foot lots with single car garage and one 44’ with a double car garage, been open since June 2010.

How important is it to pick a good home developer, such as Fieldgate Homes?

Well aside from getting married and having a family, it’s the largest decision you are ever going to make, so you better make sure you pick the right one.

What is the inspection process involved in buying a newly constructed home?

Normally, you would have a framing inspection once the house is framed. They will call the homeowner and take them through it, which is great because most people don’t get to see the skeleton of their home and that’s what they really should see. Then they have the pre-delivery inspection a few weeks before closing and the full one year, 2 year and 7 year (depending on the item) warranty after that period, but Fieldgate Homes will always come back and review any issues that arise.

How are Fieldgate Homes being made environment-friendly?

Building code changes every year, so we build to the current building codes, for example, we have been providing high efficiency furnaces for years and the homes today, like the one we are sitting in features the low e-argon windows, so you don’t have the damaging rays coming through anymore, and it also helps with your expenses on your heating. Everything we can do, we do.

Where can a home buyer find more information on the community?

Through the Town of Markham, I have had buyers go so far as to call the planning department to get answers, and they (the town) are open to it, they will answer them.

With regards to the builders, for new home purchasers I always suggest the Tarion website to check out the builder, and general Google-ing around for different information on the builder and the town. And soon to be Fieldgate social media sites, Facebook, Twitter and the Blog!

Thanks to Margaret for taking the time out of her busy day to shed some light on Potter’s Bend. Keep checking back to our blog for all the latest information on all of our developments.
